| LENS SELECTION |
You’ve just spent hours choosing
the right spectacle frame; the colour, the style, the shape:
it looks fantastic. Then you go and ruin it with the cheapest,
nastiest lenses you can get. They’re thick, they’re
heavy, you can’t see out of them: you shouldn’t
have bothered.
At Modern Eyecare we will make sure that your choice of lens
compliments the frame that you have invested all that time
choosing, and that’s where Carl Zeiss lenses come in.
Whatever your prescription or visual requirements, a Carl
Zeiss lens will give you the best possible cosmetic appearance
and the sharpest, clearest vision you have ever experienced.

LENS MATERIALS & BENEFITS
Glass: the best material used for optics,
though it is extremely heavy and the least safe.
Plastic: another term for this material is
CR-39. Plastic is the standard material used in the United
States. Apart from Glass it has the best optics.
Polycarbonate: light weight and very durable.
The optics are not encouraged for those with high prescriptions.
Mid-Index: a thin alternative to plastic
especially used for mid hyperopic prescriptions.
Hi-Index: a thinner alternative to plastic
used for mid myopic prescriptions.
Super-Index: thinnest alternative to plastic
used for higher hyperopic and myopic prescriptions. |

LENS TREATMENTS
AND COATINGS
Anti-Reflection: blocks out unwanted glare
and gives you cleaner crisper vision allowing over 99 percent
light transmittance through your lenses. Lenses without anti-reflection
only allows 89 to 92 percent light transmittance depending
on the lens material.
Transitions: are variable tint lenses. While
you are out in the sun light they turn dark gray or brown
and remain virtually clear indoors. Please come in for a full
demonstration, Transitions are know on their fourth generation.
Polarized: lenses allow you optimal sun protection.
Being out on Lake Michigan soaking up the sun or fishing from
driving down the Drive the horizontal sun rays can seem blinding.
Polarized lenses filter out all other rays allowing your vision
to remain clean and crisp. Please come in for a demonstration
and you will see for yourself. UV
Coating: protects your eyes against the harmful
UV rays A and B. All higher index lens materials inherently
have UV protection.
Tint: colors range from any imaginable color
and shade to for a sun or a fashion forward look.
Scratch Coating: gives the lenses more durability
